You probably shouldn't be big wall climbing in the rain. Bad weather happens anyway. The Gordito closes your Taco Portaledge in, so a night that turns bad doesn't end the climb.

It's a full closure, not a tarp draped over you. Rain, sun, snow, and updrafts stay out. At 1 lb 8 oz it keeps the whole system light enough that you'll actually bring it.

How it goes up

An integrated dog bone attachment clips straight to your anchor, so deployment is fast when the weather turns and you're already in it. Two adjustable straps secure the fly along the bottom of your Taco and let you fine-tune the fit. The vent cap doubles as the stuff sack, and a cinch cord keeps updrafts and swells out of it.

Seam sealing

Two options, and the cheaper one isn't a downgrade for everyone.

• Not seam sealed — lower price, and it leaves you free to seal it yourself or modify it however you want.
• Factory seam sealed — sealed here before it ships, ready to go straight out of the bag.

If you're expecting sustained rain, get it sealed. If you're mostly worried about sun, wind, and spindrift, unsealed is fine.
